Long COVID Impact Pilot Data
The COVID Research Institute is researching how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people's lives, especially regarding COVID-19 symptoms and recovery. Based upon preliminary data severity of acute infection, comorbidities of heart disease and asthma, and symptoms of poor physical health, anxiety, chest pain, constipation, heart palpitations, hypersomnia, shortness of breath were associated with increased likelihood of long-COVID.

Evaluation of health talks in improving health literacy and encouraging behavioral changes
The Healthy Conversations That Matter Series are 30-minute-long, evidenced-based presentations discussing various health topics prevalent in our communities. Our goal is to inform and ultimately, encourage healthy behavioral changes. Our health talks will include subjects including but not limited to cardiovascular health, stroke education, mental health, chronic disease, and diabetes prevention and management. The study's target population is adults over 18 years of age within Harris County. Participant's health literacy will be examined as well as each individual's likeliness to develop healthy behavioral changes.

Understanding the Intersection of Housing & Health: A Framework for Addressing Housing Insecurity as a Social Determinant of Health
The intersection between housing and health has significant implications for both individual and community well-being. Studies increasingly show that home insecurity is not just a financial or social issue but a key determinant of health, affecting physical, mental , and emotional health outcomes. This project seeks to explore the relationship between housing stability and health, identify key outcomes influenced by housing, and recommend actionable steps to address home insecurity as a pathway for improved public health.
