Mental Health

Our Mental Health program is dedicated to improving the mental well-being of our communities by providing culturally responsive care through educational resources and appropriate referrals. We understand that mental health is a critical component of overall health, and we are committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by diverse populations. Our goal is to foster mental wellness, reduce stigma, and ensure that individuals have access to the support they need to thrive.

Our Approach

Our approach to mental health is holistic and community-centered. We recognize that mental health challenges are multifaceted and often influenced by cultural, social, and economic factors. Therefore, we prioritize culturally responsive care that respects and addresses the unique needs of the diverse populations we serve. By combining education, crisis intervention, and accessible screening and referral services, we aim to create a supportive environment where everyone can achieve mental wellness. Collaboration with community partners is also central to our strategy, ensuring that our programs are informed by and tailored to the communities they serve.

Areas of Focus:

  • Mental health issues are common and affect a significant portion of the population. Addressing mental health can improve overall quality of life and functioning for individuals across diverse communities.

  • Mental health significantly impacts daily functioning, relationships, work performance, and overall life satisfaction. Improving mental health can lead to more productive, fulfilling, and balanced lives for individuals.

  • Focusing on mental health helps reduce the stigma associated with mental illnesses. Promoting open conversations and education about mental health can encourage individuals to seek help and support.

  • Education and Awareness

Education is the foundation of our approach to mental health. We believe that informed communities are empowered communities. Through a variety of educational initiatives, including workshops, seminars, and our Tiger’s Health Talk Series, we provide essential information on mental health topics such as stress management, anxiety, depression, and coping strategies. Our culturally tailored programs are designed to resonate with diverse audiences, ensuring that everyone has the knowledge to care for their mental well-being.

  • First Aid & Crisis Intervention

Equipping community members with the skills to respond to mental health crises is a key focus of our program. Our Mental Health First Aid certification course is designed to prepare individuals to assist someone in a mental health crisis until professional help arrives. This course blends self-paced online learning with in-person, instructor-led sessions, providing participants with the tools they need to offer immediate support. By training community members, we aim to create a network of first responders who can help prevent crises and connect individuals to the appropriate care.

  • Screening & Referral Services

Early identification and access to care are essential for effective mental health management. Our Mental Health Screening and Referral Services provide a gateway for individuals to receive the help they need. Available at our Tiger’s Care Express Clinic, these services include confidential screenings for common mental health conditions and referrals to trusted providers for further evaluation and treatment. Our culturally sensitive approach ensures that individuals feel supported and understood throughout their mental health journey.
